After my last trip to Japan, I always knew I ideally wanted to return in spring (heck, anytime really…!). My return in mid-April delivered a floral feast for the senses! Most of these flowers are from around Tokyo, where anywhere you look it is in vibrant bloom, literally flourishing. Every walkway, median strip, wall, front yard & park seemed overflowing with colour and richness.
Some are from the countryside near Takayama & Shirakawa-go which is a bit chillier, so it has a different blossoming season to Tokyo. See the juxtaposition of regenerating naked branches from winter and the bright fresh signs of spring!
